University Guidance Unit
- Vision: The University Guidance Unit in the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Al-Hamdaniya aims to be a pioneer in providing psychological, personal, and educational guidance to male and female students in the College, and to contribute to developing the educational environment to maximize students’ potential, develop their skills, and foster their independence.
- Mission: The mission of the University Guidance Unit in the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Al-Hamdaniya is to provide comprehensive and customized support to male and female students in the areas of psychology and educational guidance, aiming to enhance their psychological and social well-being, develop their educational and personal skills, and guide them towards making appropriate decisions for their professional and personal future.
- Objectives:
- Provide specialized psychological counseling services to male and female students to help them deal with psychological and emotional challenges they may face during their studies.
- Provide educational and career guidance sessions for students to help them choose suitable university specializations and develop successful future plans.
- Offer quality courses and seminars on mental health issues, social relationships, and how to deal with them.
- Develop developmental programs and workshops that contribute to enhancing students’ thinking, learning, and communication skills.
- Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Plan, follow up, and coordinate all processes, activities, and programs at the psychological and social level implemented in the College, whether by the Ministry of Higher Education or any governmental or civil entity.
- Develop the annual plan for educational and psychological guidance in the College and provide sufficient space for implementing its programs.
- Appoint a psychological guide for each stage and provide technical supervision to the psychological guidance division in the student dormitories.
- Organize seminars and lectures by the diverse board on stages of student development, and the physical, mental, psychological, social, and educational needs of students at each stage, to understand their psychological state.
- Identify the most common psychological and behavioral problems encountered by any university affiliate (students, faculty, staff, or workers) and strive to provide them with help as quickly as possible through guidance interviews based on scientific foundations.
- Study psychological and behavioral problems from the perspective of the individuals themselves and from the perspective of trained educational counselors in the colleges regarding the psychological problem.
- Develop individual care and safety plans, mutually agreed upon and jointly monitored with the beneficiary.
- Monitor the development of the continuous care plan with specific goals for psychological prevention issues.
- Help new students at the university adapt and integrate into the university’s educational atmosphere quickly and easily by introducing them to the unit’s services and meeting their needs, in coordination with Student Affairs.
- Evaluate cases monitored by the relevant institution to ensure the continuity of service provision to the beneficiary and the success of the intervention.
- Provide individual counseling to students suffering from behavioral, social, educational, or psychological problems at a basic level that need support and prevention to prevent the problem from escalating, by having the counselor available in his office.
- Continuously evaluate the academic performance of all students through subject matter experts and department heads, and monitor cases of academic failure.
- Follow up on cases of repeated absenteeism for students referred by the Registration Division and study cases of academic failure and address them individually.
- Provide guidance services to students to develop their personalities and equip them with the necessary skills to face problems.
- Organize seminars and lectures that address student issues and have preventive and therapeutic goals.
- Contribute to utilizing university activities to develop students’ abilities and talents, helping them form their career orientations and make future career decisions.
- Respect the privacy of information provided by students to the student advisor, whether personal or confidential, and give students the freedom to choose their educational guide.
- Help students discover themselves by making them aware of their capabilities, aptitudes, talents, and skills, and understanding the problems they face, whatever their type.
- Assist students in understanding their physical and social environment, including its potentials and shortcomings, and benefit from their personal potentials and the potentials available in their environment; to set realistic goals for their achievement and plan scientifically to achieve these goals.
